Our Competition Winner; Headspace competition

Thursday, 01 December 2011 08:50

During March - April 2011, Headspace Barwon ran a competition amongst school communities to devise an art piece expressing “Communication Connects Communities”.

The winning pieces went to form a display which was showcased around Geelong leading up to R U OK day, held nationally on 15th September 2011.

Our CGEA students were set the challenge to create on canvas a visual art piece that reflects the theme. In the beginning we brainstormed different ideas around the three key words of communication, connection and community and began to relate these meanings back to our local community.

VCAL Project

Thursday, 01 December 2011 08:52

This year students were put through their paces recognising their employability skills through many group projects.  One assessment that produced great results was the “CREATE your own board game” Project.

Students had to collaborate, negotiate and mediate in their creations of these fun games. All stages of planning, research, creation and review had to be recorded and mapped. Students began to understand roles within groups and how delegation worked. They even realised they had obtained a great number of team skills already and learnt how to identify them.

Now we have a wide selection of fun games to play!
