CREATE - A Community Service Organisation

History

Established by the former Shire of Corio:

CREATE (Geelong) Inc was established in 1986 by the former Shire of Corio as a federally funded Community Youth Support Scheme (CYSS) in Norlane.

A building was constructed for its use in the car park precinct of the Norlane Water World complex and is still being used by CREATE in working with disadvantaged local young people.

In 1994 the organisation recognised that it needed to expand its funding base beyond Federal Government grants and renamed itself CREATE (Geelong) Inc and commenced operations as a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) delivering State Government funded education programs through Adult Community Further Education (ACFE) funding.

Over its years of operation CREATE has helped meet the needs of individuals and community as well as providing longer-term assistance through our services and programs in areas such as:

  • Youth
  • Disability
  • Welfare
  • Education
  • Community Enterprise
  • Personal Support
  • Community projects and housing

About CREATE

CREATE (Geelong) Inc is a non-government, community service organisation which provides a diversity of opportunities through education & training, specialist services, and community enterprise. We have sites in both the Geelong and Wyndham regions.

Over our years of operation, CREATE has met immediate individual and community needs as well as providing longer-term assistance through our services and programs in areas such as youth, disability, welfare, education, community enterprise, personal support, community projects, housing and many others.

Expanded service options and contracts have secured new opportunities in all services and programs, many with a very strong focus on assisting people, families and community groups who are facing significant barriers in realising their goals and aspirations.

Specialist support and assistance is provided to people with complex needs such as youth at risk, people with chronic mental health issues, those with challenging behaviours, young mothers and other special support needs areas.

CREATE is a Registered Training Organisation with a commitment to develop customised training that responds to the real needs of people and community in a creative and vibrant style.

Governed by a Board of Management, with Directors representing a cross-section of community members and organisations, CREATE is strongly committed to enlisting local people and resources in actively supporting people and community effectively.

CREATE services are active, responsive and ever-evolving. This is possible because our services, programs and business units are supported by strong, positive leadership from our Senior Managers, Team Leaders, and skilled, experienced and committed staff teams.
